Carl E. Mease, VMD is the owner, founder and supervising veterinarian at the Oxford Veterinary Hospital. While growing up in rural Lancaster County,Pennsylvania, he always had a special attachment to animals. After receiving an undergraduate degree in zoology from Penn State University, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1976, establishing the Oxford Veterinary Hospital in 1979. He has since been dedicated to providing affordable quality care customized to the individual needs of his patients and their owners.
Dr. Mease enjoys his chosen career because he understands and shares the bond between people and pets that clients bring to the clinic every day. (Happiness is a wagging tail or purr.) He is interested in all facets of small animal veterinary medicine and surgery with special interest in modern veterinary dentistry, stifle surgery, allergy related ear disease, and internal medicine. He attends continuing education meetings frequently and sets high goals for himself and his staff in order to deliver the service and care his clients and patients deserve.
Dr. Mease lives in the area with his wife, Lesley, with whom he shares his love of animals and travel, and their sons, Sam and Zach, both of whom they are very proud.
When not providing care to small animals, Dr. Mease enjoys caring for a menagerie of animals at his home which includes dogs, cats, horses, chickens, and a parrot. Dr Mease rides to the hounds as a whipper-in with the Riverhills Foxhounds and volunteers as an outrider at the local steeplechase and hunt meets. He also enjoys many other outdoor activity such as gardening, birdwatching, bicycling, canoeing, scuba diving, and hiking-anything that keeps him close to nature.
Heidi Stanley Gaultney, DVM graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana in 1985. She joined the practice in 2007 and enjoys general practice because each day provides its own varied challenges. She also enjoys the interaction with pet owners and helping them give their furry loved ones the best care possible. Her special interests are internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, pain management and dentistry. She also sees client education and good communication as a key to good medical care.
Dr. Gaultney moved to this area in 1991 with her husband, Larry. They have three children, Peter, Wendy and Cecilia.
Outside veterinary medicine, Dr. Gaultney enjoys many outdoor activities including hiking, biking, riding horses, and gardening. She also enjoys traveling and appreciates the opportunity to utilize her foreign language skills. Having lived in France, the Congo, Mexico, Kenya and Brazil, she is fluent in Portuguese, and can communicate reasonably well in French and Spanish. She is an active member of Elkton United Methodist Church.
Victoria Kabakjian, D.V.M. grew up in Chester County where her desire to be a veterinarian stemmed while spending many hours caring for animals on her family's small farm. She received her undergraduate degree in Large Animal Science from Delaware Valley College, and then graduated from Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She enjoys not only helping and working with her patients, but their owners as well. She says "when pets lead a happy and healthy lives, their owners lives are equally enriched."
Her special interests of small animal medicine include dentistry, behavior medicine, pain management, preventative medicine, and educating clients about their pets needs.
Dr. Kabakjian and her husband, Paul, grew up in this area and are happy to continue to live here with their 2 small children, Caris and Isaac. She enjoys spending time with her family, biking, going to local parks, hiking, and dancing for exercise or for fun. She is also an active member of Parkesburg Baptist Church.
