What's New at Oxford Veterinary Hospital Visiting surgeon: Jeff Mayo, DVM, CVLS, Diplomate ABVP recently visited the Oxford Veterinary Hospital to perform TTA (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement) surgery with Dr Mease. TTA is the latest (and heralded by many as the best) procedure to treat the common hind leg lameness in dogs caused by a rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament (CCL). Dr. Mayo is a well known expert and teacher of this surgical technique. He teaches and performs surgery throughout the United States and overseas. Dr Mayo recently returned from a 2 week teaching trip to Australia. Earlier this year Dr Mease completed a TTA course given by Dr Mayo and has equipped the hospital with the necessary specialized equipment. We thank Dr Mayo for his supervision and assistance in helping us ensure we are providing the best quality care for our patients.

Staff Education: Dr. Mease completed the Master Oral Surgery and Orthopedic Course at the Animal Dental Training Center. This course focused on the technique for removing oral tumors. He has also completed a course at the same center that focused on orthodontics and crowns.
Dr Mease also recently completed a training course on Tibial Tuberosity Advancement Surgery, or better known as TTA Surgery. This procedure in the latest technique for repair of Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture, a very common hind leg injury in dogs. We have also purchased the specialized equipment needed to perform this operation and are pleased to now be able to offer this surgery to our clients.
Oxford Veterinary Hospital considers continuing education of our doctors and staff an important part of bringing the best care to our patients. One of Dr Mease's favorite sayings is "You are either green and growing or dying on the vine." In April, our team attended a weekend long continuing education program (CVC East) in Baltimore, MD. This program held lectures on varying topics that updated us on the new and improved methods. The entire staff attended a day long seminar in May on delivering excellent client service in White Marsh, Maryland. Our staff continuously strives to develop our skills and adapt to leading techniques to delivering excellent care to our patients.
